Michigan Drug Rehabs: Why You Might Need Drug Rehab
If you try to quit using drugs and alcohol on your own, but continue to relapse, then you might need drug rehab in order to stop for good. This is actually very common and it is quite difficult–some would say impossible–for the addict to stop using all by themselves. The solution is to ask for help and that will generally mean treatment of some sort.
Now there are several levels of treatment, such as private counseling, outpatient treatment, inpatient treatment, and so on. In most cases, if you try the lessor levels of treatment that are less intensive, such as counseling, you are not going to get great results. Why not? Because addiction is such a tough problem to overcome, and it requires a massive effort in order to do so. Counseling is generally not enough to change your entire life. It might be a helpful follow-up strategy, but it is not going to be sufficient all by itself in helping you to make such a dramatic change.
When you overcome an addiction, your entire life has to change. This is not a trivial matter. It takes a huge effort on the part of the addict and it also takes other people who are willing to help them. At the very least, a couple weeks in rehab are probably going to be necessary in order to get a clean break in the addict’s life. Without this “interruption,” it will be very difficult for the addict to stay clean and sober for the first few weeks, and it will be highly likely that they relapse.
Use rehab to give yourself a break and get a jump start on recovery.
