Is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder a Condition That Would Allow Me to Obtain Medical Marijuana in Michigan?
Question by robert b: Is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder a condition that would allow me to obtain medical Marijuana in Michigan?
I am a U.S. military veteran and I suffer from PTSD. Aside from counseling and sleeping pills, treatment options are limited. My brother came to my house and had me try some marijuana and it seemed to help. I got my appitite back, slept the best I have in a long time, and didnt feel all drugged up. I live in Michigan (where med Marijuana is legal) and didn’t know if I should try to get it for my PTSD.

Yes, I believe it is one of the conditions to access this. Now I will tell you I have always been avidly against illegal drugs but I am also open minded to the benefits. After seeing what many prescriptions drugs have done to thousands, if not millions of people, I would have to say go for it as long as you use it for the right purpose like you would any other prescription drug. Just always be aware that the potential for addiction is there whether it be physical or psychological and continue on with your therapy. I suffered severely from PTSD for 15 years and never took anything. I now take an anti-depressant, I finished therapy and feel great concerning this issue and it’s been 10 years now. I think only you know what is the best way to go and if this helps and you are not avoiding reality or dealing with your issues, then by all means try it. Just know when to stop and also many people have talked on here alone about how paranoid and anxious they get from using this over time. Try not to make this yet another problem that you will have to get through later. Talk to your therapist about this too. Take care and God Bless
