my dad died when i was two (from drugs) and i don’t wanna go down that way i feel like all eyes are on me do do something with my life how can i do this if i cant try things?

short answer:yes, but you make your own choices and are jsut more prone to addiction so stay away from addictin stuff and youre fine

Yes, it does run in families. But since you know that about yourself, you can take steps to avoid having it be a problem for you. I have alcoholism on both sides of my family, but I still have a drink or two sometimes. You just have to be careful, and make sure you don’t start depending on anything. If you are ever worried, or someone says you’re worried about you, take it seriously and stop.
Also, you can go through life and have fun without ever trying anything addictive. If you’re not sure you can control yourself, just make it a rule never to do anything. Get your friends to do things that are fun for you, even if you’re sober, like go dancing, or to a movie. Things where they can drink if they want, but you’ll still enjoy if you don’t.
