Question by flyyx3: What do i major in? i want to work with substance abuse patients?
i want to prescribe medicine for substance abuse patients (work in a rehab). I dont want to be a counselor or psychologist and talk about their lives, i just want to prescribe medicine and help with addiction.

The most valuable thing you can ever learn about substance abuse is that it is the symptom, not the illness. To stop a person abusing you need to address the underlying illness (whatever that may be), and long term medication just can’t do that. I’m certain that’s not the answer you were looking for, but it’s just my two cents worth. If you really want to help substance abusers then psychology is the way to go.
